Power and lighting where you need it

Whether you are renovating, extending or simply short of sockets, your electrician can add power and lighting to suit how you use the space. The existing installation is checked first to make sure it can safely take the additional load.

Lighting work ranges from replacing fittings and adding downlights to new lighting circuits, switching arrangements and outdoor lighting. Power work includes extra sockets, dedicated circuits for appliances, and supplies to garages, sheds and garden rooms.

Some work, such as new circuits and certain work in bathrooms, is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations. Your electrician will explain how notifiable work will be notified and certified before it starts.

Questions

Lighting & power FAQs

Can you add sockets without rewiring?

Often, yes, if the existing circuit is in good condition and can take the extra load. Your electrician will check before recommending an approach.

Can you install outdoor sockets or garden lighting?

Yes. Outdoor installations need suitable weatherproof equipment and appropriate protection, which your electrician will specify for the location.

Do you supply the light fittings?

Either way works. You can choose your own fittings or your electrician can supply suitable ones. This will be set out in the quotation.
